J'habite au Breton!

We watched the classic French cult film 'Amelie' at the weekend and we've come across all whimsical and Frenchy. So today we bring you the classic French wardrobe staple; the Breton stripe modelled by THE one and only Brigitte Bardot!

Breton stripes are still so in this season (particularly with nautical swimwear doing the rounds) and we love how a simple Breton t-shirt can be paired with skinny jeans and sandals or glamoured up with a boyish blazer and heels.

Such a statement piece and a little bit of the France that we love.

Breton stripes originated in the French province of Brittany. In 1858 an act was passed that meant French naval seamen wore white and blue striped shirts to help spot them if they were to fall overboard and needed rescuing. Coco Chanel was inspired by the beautiful striped uniforms on a visit to the region and the rest is fashion history. A cult design was born!
